We continue this fine morning by looking at non-COVID deaths for those aged 50 years and over. You all know the drill by now… kettle on and biscuits opened!
It should be quite clear that being male is dangerous! A pattern starts to emerge for the older age bands that reveals an underlying impact of seasonal illness as we may expect. Our infamous spring spike of 2020 starts to make a decent appearance in the 70 - 74y band, though 65 - 69y males look as though they suffered more so than females.
A non-parametric test for randomness (runs test) reveals what we’ve already guessed: that there is some shape to the majority of data series apart from male non-COVID 50 - 54y (p=0.196) and male non-COVID 60-64y (p=0.096):
